We're rollin'- safely
We work with authorities, citizens and shared fleet providers - to make sure that everyone can roll safely.
In Vias we believe that micromobility can address many current mobility problems and be key in how we move in cities in the future. That's why we are continuously enlarging and enriching our expertise on this topic. Our experts have top notch knowledge and are moreover practitioners themselves, using bicycles and e-scooters in our daily commute. At Vias, we do what we preach.
From theory to practice
Our expertise in micromobility covers international regulations, technical conformity and standardization, road safety, infrastructure and user behaviour. We closely monitor the evolution of all trends related to micromobility in Belgium and facilitate the transition towards new ways of moving.
In recent year we completed several projects related to micromobility. This provided us with the experience and expertise to address both strategic and practical issues related to the topic. We are also active as a national expert in this field.

Think globally, act locally
We are or have been engaged in several partnerships with micromobility providers to increase user awareness, in particular on safety. We are strongly committed to road safety and therefore we are excited to work closely together with companies offering shared-fleet solutions. With Lime we organized the #RespectTheRide event in Brussels where hundreds of free helmets were distributed.
In 2019, Vias together with Lime and AloAlto decided to make a positive impact on urban infrastructure in Brussels and carried out the #SaferCities project. The interactive infrastructure mapping as part of the 'Smart Road Safety' programme of the Brussels Region, allowed us to identify dangerous spots in the city and helps municipalities to focus on improving infrastructure where it is the most needed.
We also contributed to create impact on international level. With Voi we prepared the very successful Ride like Voila traffic school for riders, reaching more than half a million users across all Europe.
Safety first
Road safety will always remain at the core our activities. Following a rapid increase in popularity of micromobility devices in Belgium, last summer we examined the safety aspects and the fuss around it (spoiler alert: always wear a helmet!).
Vias currently coordinates a European-wide study to analyse interactions of e-scooters with other road users, highlight challenges in the traffic as well as risks and dangerous behaviours in order to propose new measures and possible actions to improve mobility and safety for riders and pedestrians.
