Cutting-edge technology for thoughtful modifications of the network
Planning to implement any changes in the organization of the traffic flow or to adapt the infrastructure? We can help you by analysing the traffic patterns before and after any adaptation with advanced video analytics.
Our solution has two unique features:
no power prerequisites: the technology can be deployed in the most remote locations. It operates fully independently, regardless of whether or not there is a network or power supply.
no analytical prerequisites: the video recording system does not require calibration or pre-configuration. All useful information will be extracted after recording. Most of the processing is done automatically.
In the context of a project carried out jointly by Brussels Airport Company and De Lijn to test an autonomous shuttle at Brussels Airport, Vias performed a traffic analysis of a critical roundabout along the intended shuttle route in the BruCargo area. Incoming vehicles and their speed were measured during a continuous period of two weeks. On top, two cameras filmed the roundabout during pre-defined peak-periods. Major traffic flows, critical points of congestion and safety risks were identified based on behavior analysis. This information is very useful for the preparation of the tests and forms a basis for comparison and assessment of the traffic impact of the shuttle during the tests. We enjoy a very professional collaboration with Vias and can count on their valuable support and advice throughout this project.
Brussels Airport Zaventem
Inserting an autonomous vehicle into regular traffic is extremely challenging – for the BruCargo project, Vias used a combination of radar sensors and video cameras to analyse the traffic at a complex roundabout preceding the introduction of the service.
